Personal, Social, Health Education (P.S.H.E)

At Grimes Dyke Primary School we aim to promote healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage all our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through class & school councils, fundraising events, supporting nominated charities and involvement in community activities. Our pupils are given opportunities in PSHE &, SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) lessons and assemblies to develop confidence, self-motivation and an understanding of their rights and responsibilities within our diverse society.

We teach PSHE in a variety of ways: as a discrete subject, through SEAL lessons, via assemblies and through other subjects such as RE, History, Geography, Literacy, Maths and Science, as well as through outdoor educational visits, community work and activities.

Please use your child's year group page to find out what they are learning about each half term!

Brownlee Foundation Mini-Triathlon Event – Leeds May 2019

The Brownlee Foundation events have been set up by Alistair and Jonny so they can give something back to the community. They attribute much of their success to people they met as youngsters around schools, clubs and events who had a fantastic passion for sport.

The event gave 30 pupils from Key Stage 2 an opportunity to try the disciplines of the triathlon. No previous experience or expertise in triathlon was required. All children swam 30m in the pool, cycled 800m on grass and ran 300m (all distances are approximate). Bikes, helmets and swimming caps were provided and every child received a t-shirt, a medal and goody bag when they crossed the finish line.

Year 3 & 4 as part of their Geography topic studying Leeds visited the River.  They walked from Armley Mills to observe the River at different points and finishing Granary Wharf a mixed-use development that stands next to the brick tunnels beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and the River Aire.
